Mr. Bud Phillips is a very unique man. Not only has he studied history, he can recall events, names of persons, cemeteries and do so with such clarity I am truly amazed. You name it, and he has probably been there, seen it up close, and has probably included it in one of his numerous books on local history.

Confederate Decoration Day at
Historic Green Hill Cemetery
In Tennessee, Confederate Memorial Day is also known as Confederate Decoration Day. Seven Southern States observe the solemn occasion on different dates. In Tennessee, it is observed on June 3rd to honor those who served bravely and heroically during the War for Southern Independence.

dedication of an astounding Monument dedicated to the Confederate veterans buried at East Hills Cemetery in Bristol, Tennessee.

Historic Sullivan County Civil War Days
Saturday, June 19, 2010 began with programs at 9:00 A.M. with all re-enactment camps open to the public. The events were sponsored by the Sons of the Confederate Veterans and the Sullivan County Department of Archives and Tourism in conjunction with numerous others sponsors.
